Matthew T. Scaffa, DDS

Dr. Matthew Thomas Scaffa graduated from New York University in 1985 with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) and has been working as a dentist on Staten Island, NY, for nearly 30 years. Before attending dental school, he completed his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry at Stony Brook University. To ensure that he keeps abreast of emerging technologies and procedures in dentistry, Dr. Scaffa annually averages about 20 Continuing Education (CE) units. In addition, he is a member of the American Dental Association and the 2nd District Dental Society. To provide the highest possible level of care to his patients, he has received advanced training in implant dentistry, Invisalign®, and Lumineers® cosmetic veneers.

Dr. Scaffa opened his practice on Richmond Avenue, Staten Island, NY, in 1985, moved his practice to a larger office at 127 Foster Road, Staten Island NY, in 1988, and then moved for the final time to an even larger office and his current location (112 Foster Road, Staten Island, NY) in 2000. He continually seeks to provide professional and high-quality dental care for his patients. In doing so, he hopes to always “over-deliver” for his patients so they will have healthy and beautiful smiles.

Dr. Scaffa’s family is extremely important to him. He has been blessed with three sons and his wonderful wife. They have been and will always be his driving force and his strength. One of Dr. Scaffa’s hobbies is SCUBA diving, and he has earned his PADI certification for SCUBA.

Collin – Registered Dental Hygienist

Collin has been working with Dr. Matthew Scaffa for over 25 years! She is a registered dental hygienist who practices dental hygiene in both New York and New Jersey, and she is also a proud member of the Central Jersey Dental Hygiene Association, which allows her to continue to seek out new and exciting ADA board-certified skills that will enhance her dental hygiene abilities and keep her engaged in this fast-growing field. She is dedicated to providing exceptional services to all of our patients at Staten Island Dental Arts Center. While Collin has many wonderful memories working in the practice, she looks forward to making new friends with all of the patients who are welcomed into the practice every day. She has enjoyed her work at Staten Island Dental Arts Center and looks forward to a successful future and growth of our practice as we continue to provide quality care to all of our patients. At our practice, we always have the interests of our patients at heart and foremost in our care for their very best overall health. Collin is a native Staten Islander, and she now resides in New Jersey with her husband.

Kristin – Registered Dental Hygienist

Kristin Tarsillo is a registered dental hygienist who has been working with Dr. Matthew Scaffa for over ten years. Kristin has been a constant referral source of family and friends to this office since she first started with Dr. Matthew Scaffa. She strives to provide the best cleanings for our patients and many patients commend her on giving them “the best cleaning they have ever had!”. Every October you can see Kristin participate in the 37-mile AVON® Walk to End Breast Cancer.

Connie – Front Desk Receptionist

Since July 2015, Connie has worked with us as our front desk receptionist. One of her favorite parts of working at our office is that she has been welcomed as a team player. Everyone in the office strives for improvement and tries to be receptive to new concepts and ideas in order to create a better practice for Dr. Matthew Scaffa, our team, and of course, our patients. Connie also loves that everyone respects each other and their roles. In addition to treating all of our patients and team members with the utmost respect, Connie is also a great multi-tasker and is happy to help you with scheduling your appointments, answering your calls, and working with insurance companies to help resolve any insurance issues. Connie is always eager to learn new ways to improve her position to help the office run more productively and effectively. She is married to her husband, John, and they have a son also named John. When she isn’t working, Connie loves to cook and cater food.

Donna – Dental Assistant & Front Desk Receptionist

For over 25 years, Donna has worked at our practice as a registered dental assistant and front desk receptionist. She strives to help our patients keep their mouths healthy and bright. For the entirety of her time at Dr. Matthew Scaffa’s office, she has noticed the unrelenting attention our team gives to our patients. It has been wonderful for her to see his lifelong patients grow with this practice – patients that were children when they first started coming to our practice are now parents themselves. Donna is proud to work at Dr. Matthew Scaffa’s office and to be friends with many of his patients. She really enjoys seeing and greeting the patients that she has watched grow up. Donna is married to her husband, Matthew, and they have three children, Christopher, Dominic, and Anthony. In her free time, she enjoys drawing/coloring and writing poems and short stories.

Maria – Dental Assistant & Consumables Purchaser

Maria has been part of our team at Staten Island Dental Arts Center for 19 years. She attended college at St. John’s University and at a community college. She enjoys working at our office because Dr. Matthew Scaffa and the entire team are very caring towards our patients, and we treat no one as a stranger here. Maria thoroughly enjoys helping Dr. Matthew Scaffa care for his patients; he is very gentle and has great chairside manner. Maria is married to her husband, Michael, and they have three children, Salvatore, Michael, and Michelle. She likes going to classic rock concerts.

Sandra – Dental Assistant

Sandra joined our team in September 2015. She enjoys working at our practice because Dr. Matthew Scaffa is a wonderful dentist and has a clean, professional, loving, and hard-working office. She supports him by assisting him when he is attending to his patients. Sandra loves telling her friends and family to come to Dr. Matthew Scaffa! In her spare time, she enjoys being with her two sons.
